Jamtalhütte - Alpine chalet-hut in Galtuer
Visit this lovely mountain chalet in TyrolIn 1882 the first Jamtal Hut was built by the German Alpine Association, Swabia section, to serve as a base for alpinists in the summer. Because of the increasing number of visitors the hut was enlarged in 1896 and again in 1907. Over the following twenty years, ski mountaineering became more and more popular. That is why the alpine hut was modernised in 1929 and 1932 to meet the demanded standards. The new ski touring hype in winter, as well as the hiking tours excitement in summer, led to an over-occupation.
As a result, and because of the decrepitude of the old building, parts of the original hut were pulled down in 1978 and a new wing was built with a new water supply and proper effluent disposal, plus an improved driveway was constructed. The hut has been a constant training centre for the German Alpine Association ever since. In 2007 the Jamtal Hut celebrated its 125 year anniversary. This alpine hut in Galtuer has been run by the Lorenz family for 4 generations, now! </p>
