Niederelbehütte Mountain Hut in Kappl
The Niederelbe Hut was built in 1930/31 at 2,310 metres above sea level in the Sesslad valley on the Verwall Alps, a municipal area of Kappl. In 1966/67 the hut was generously enlarged and provided with its own hydro-electric power station. For many years the mountain hut in Kappl has held the “Austrian environmental seal of approval”. The hut is provisioned by a goods lift from the Paznaun Valley.
Since 1938 all three tenants have shared the same name: Rudigier. Martha and Hubert Rudiger have been tenants since 1999, the year they assumed the hut in Tyrol from Hubert’s parents, who had been running the alpine chalet for twenty years. Enjoy not only hiking in Tyrol, but also the culinary highlights on the Culinary Way of St. James.
