Heidelbergerhütte alpine chalet in Ischgl
On 19th August, 1889 the Heidelberger Hut was inaugurated after a two-year construction period. Over the first years from 1889 to 1901 this alpine chalet in Ischgl only saw 20 to 30 visitors per year. It was in 1910 when the Heidelberger Hut was refurbished for winter activity, as a consequence of the discovery of the fantastic skiing area in the Fimbertal Valley, that the situation improved. However, at that time the guests had to look after themselves. In 1949 the hut was put into trust by the Austrian Alpine Association.
On 26th September, 1953 the hut was given back to the Heidelberg section of the Alpine Association, which then had the right to run the mountain hut in Ischgl as a going concern. Ever since, the alpine chalet has constantly been renovated and enlarged. Inge the hostess and her sons, Thomas and Robert, provide sustenance for the guests, while Paul the landlord always has useful tour tips as well as offering guided tours.
